'The Essential Saltes' is a triptych derived from the story 'The Case of Charles Dexter Ward' by H.P. Lovecraft. In this study, the world of the animate is perceived by the previously dead and newly emergent into the world of the living.

This is achieved in 3 phases of assemblage; from the disregarded, the mechanical and the biological. Each achieves the animate in a different way; through the aggregation of morphology, dissolution into the landscape or the suffusion of colour. And of course this need not necessarily be the correct way up as the 'Saltes' could be assembled in any orientation...
